Building Resilient Infrastructure at Maple Ridge Dairy Farm

Maple Ridge Dairy Farm is a progressive farm located in Stratford, Wisconsin. They have about 1,800 cows and approximately 3,800 acres run by a hard-working and dedicated crew.

Challenge: Sustainable Manure Management

Like many growing Midwest farms, Maple Ridge needed to figure out how to safely and efficiently manage large volumes of manure year-round, especially with Wisconsin’s weather and temperature shifts.

Ultimately, the farm needed a cost-effective, modern, compliant manure storage solution. The tank needed to fit within the farm’s current layout, and the project couldn’t disrupt ongoing operations.

Solution: A Round Concrete Tank from Pipping Concrete

Maple Ridge opted to partner with Pipping Concrete for an agricultural waste storage solution that met their needs. We put our 40-plus years of experience to work to create a custom round concrete waste storage tank.

Working closely with local engineers and ready-mix suppliers at MSA Professional Services and Haas Inc., we designed and installed a 252-foot diameter, 16-foot high round concrete tank. This manure tank was built to hold 6 million gallons (5.4 million usable) of liquid manure.

The tank's circular design allowed us to make the most of limited space. Round manure tanks also improve efficiency with easier pumping and agitation.

Throughout the project, our expert crew showcased precision in every phase, from concrete pouring to structural wall installation. Most importantly, this system is pre-approved by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), ensuring compliance with federal and Wisconsin environmental standards.

Results: Long-Term Durability and Nutrient Management Compliance

This high-capacity manure storage tank will serve Maple Ridge Dairy for decades. The tank is built to withstand the freeze-thaw cycles of Wisconsin winters and allows the farm to continue to grow.
